PHYSICAL THERAPY:
THE SCIENCE OF HEALING, THE ART OF CARING

What is Physical Therapy?

Physical Therapists are health care professionals who diagnose and treat individuals of all ages who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives.

Physical Therapists examine each individual and develop a plan of care using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function and prevent disability. They also work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility by developing fitness and wellness-oriented programs for healther and more active lifestyles.

What to expect from a Physical Therapy Session with Debbi:

  • Most sessions last 45-60 minutes
  • First session consists of a complete musculo-skeletal evaluation including:
    • evaluation of posture
    • evaluation of range of motion of arms, shoulders, hips, legs, neck, back
    • palpation for pain/tenderness, muscle tone, muscle spasms, trigger points
    • evaluation of strength, muscle endurance, neural tension
    • evaluation of reflexes, sensation, contraindications
  • You will be given an explanation of your diagnosis and problems and how these affect your pain and function
  • You will be instructed in techniques to manage your symptoms at home, and exercises to do at home
  • Your treatment plan will be discussed so that we are working towards the same goals
  • Treatment will be started on the first day as time allows
