DESCRIPTION:LGBTQ+ Inclusivity 101 brought to the community by Germantown Community Coalition.\n\nAccording to the 2023 Trevor Project Survey on LGBTQ Youth Mental Health:\n\n\n 41% of LGBTQ youth seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year and young people who are transgender\, nonbinary\, and/or people of color reported higher rates than their peers.\n Fewer than 40% of LGBTQ young people found their home to be LGBTQ-affirming. A majority of LGBTQ young people reported being verbally harassed at school because people thought they were LGBTQ.\n Nearly 2 in 3 LGBTQ young people said that hearing about potential state or local laws banning people from discussing LGBTQ people at school made their mental health a lot worse.\n\n\n \n\nWe encourage you to spend time exploring the entirety of the 2023 survey https://www.thetrevorproject.org/survey-2023/. We know together we can be a supportive and welcoming community!\n\n \n\nDesigned for middle schoolers to adults\, this program can be an excellent way to demonstrate acceptance and allow for communication about respect in families.\n\n \n\nThis event is free to attend however donations are greatly appreciated. We are able to provide community education events like this thanks to our members and donors who make it possible!
