Washington County Water Education: Understanding Your Septic System

Description

The County’s Natural Resources Department provides residents with resources on handling hazardous waste, improving lake shorelines, controlling rainwater runoff, protecting wetlands, understanding septic systems, farming for healthy soils, and taking steps to protect lakes and drinking water.  The education campaign includes the following:

• A new website, https://link.edgepilot.com/s/28a4b670/dWkb1yWlR0OGz2-aHKXTFw?u=http://www.washcowisco.gov/watereducation,  that serves as a hub for water education information and features tools for requesting education workshops from area experts;
• A robust social media effort focused on these educational messages;
• A workshop series focused on educating the public regarding various water quality topics; and
• Various educational materials provided to county residents and new riparian homeowners;

As part of the effort, the following presentations open to the community have been scheduled.  Organizations and residents can also request a presentation on various topics on the department’s new website.
