Join us for our 7th Annual Old Falls WWII Days Living History Reenactment event in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin June 14-16th, 2024.
“Yesterday, December 7, 1941, a date that will live in infamy …” began President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s speech to Congress and the American people. The Japanese had attacked Pearl Harbor and the President had just signed a declaration of war. And with that, America’s involvement in World War II had begun. Seventy years later, a group of history lovers are collecting artifacts, replicating artifacts, studying everything they can find about the period, dressing the part and demonstrating life in the ‘40s for visitors in our local parks. They keep the history of America alive, educating young and old. They are called reenactors. By rights, they should also be called teachers for that is exactly what they do.
These reenactors are part of an event June 14, 15 and 16 at Old Falls Village Park in Menomonee, Wisconsin. The event is about remembering … remembering and honoring. Remembering and honoring the sacrifices of the many who fought for our freedom. And remembering the home front, young men quitting school to leave home and join the fight, women working men’s jobs, and the music, the music that brought people together in a time of turmoil according to Nicole Kramas, a WWII reenactor. Kramas has coordinated a USO-themed variety show for the event.
“I started reenacting in Civil War events with my now ex-husband, but the fashion and the music of the ‘40s drew me in.”
“And I always wanted to do a USO show.”
Not only will there be a USO-themed show, but there will be fashion shows, singers and ‘40s music all weekend.
