Glazing putty. Wavy glass. Intricate locks. Sash planes. Does any of this sound familiar? All of these aspects were part of creating the fabulous windows we’ve all seen in our favorite historic and old buildings. Join Steve Stuckey, former architectural conservator of George Washington’s Mount Vernon home and now executive director of the Tower Heritage Center, as he dives deep into the history of window technology. This exciting session will have a mix of visuals--tools, window parts, sashes--all used to explain the world of historic window technology. Also included will be images and drawings of aspects of windows that you may not have noticed before. So don’t miss out! The session will be held in the main courtroom of the Tower Heritage Center’s wonderful 1889 courthouse building. In-person AND virtual participation options are available, though physical seating is limited to a first-come, first-served basis.
