Join Steve Stuckey, former architectural conservator of George Washington's Mount Vernon home and now executive director of the Tower Heritage Center, as he discusses the answer to a very common question about historic buildings: "How do you know that was the color?" This exciting session will go into the process behind uncovering historic buildings' colors using paint analysis. Steve will unpack some of the main reasons behind going to the trouble of studying paint chips, how it is done, what is learned, and why it helps all of us better understand our beloved historic buildings. There will be incredible images, some lovely drawings that illustrate how to take a paint sample, and lots of energy! So don't miss out! The session will be held in the main courtroom of the Tower Heritage Center's wonderful 1889 Courthouse. In-person AND virtual participation options are available, though physical seating is limited to a first-come, first-served basis.
